Deep intimacy: focusing on the beauty of Jesus
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple (Psalm 27:4).
If we want the fires of love to burn within us, we must give ourselves to worship. Setting Jesus in His rightful place, through this expression of love, centers our hearts on the truth.
He is our Beloved (Song of Solomon 6:3).
He is the Delight of the Father (Isaiah 42:1).
He is our Bridegroom (Matthew 9:15).
He is the Indescribable Gift (2 Corinthians 9:15).
He is the Holy One (Acts 3:14).
Deep intimacy is a result of consistent communion with the Lord. When we gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, we become enthralled. He draws near to us as we draw near to Him (James 4:8).
Do you want to love Him more? Behold His beauty.
How then shall we respond?
This week, spend time in personal and corporate worship. Allow your heart, mind, and spirit to behold the Lord Jesus as your Beloved.
- Ask the Lord for a revelation of His beauty.
- Choose to spend time in the Prayer Room this week worshipping the Lord and sitting in His presence.
- Meditate on the beautiful acts on Jesus throughout scripture – His compassion, His mercy, His love for others.
Draw near to the Lord throughout your day and allow your affections to arise as you focus on Him.
