Dealing with the Storm: Our Wednesday Activities Are Canceled and Other Updates for Feb. 17, 2021

Hello Calvary Family and Friends:

I finally found a place to get on the internet and to connect with you about our schedule at Calvary.

This week has been something historic for sure.

Thank you for reaching out to offer help and grace to one another and to your neighbors and friends. Thank you for how well you love others and express the care of the King. Thank you for connecting with others to see how people are doing in the midst of the current challenge.

And, I hope you are taking good care of yourself in spite of the power outages, water shortages, busted pipes, limited resources, frozen roads, and other difficulties.

Even in the midst of such challenges, I want to encourage you to make time to express gratitude to the Lord for his grace, watch care, and provision. I hope you can find some things for which you can be thankful, even in the midst of this storm. And, it is ok to lament, grieve, and cry out to the Lord for what you and others have suffered and lost.

Now, here are some things you need to know:

All Wednesday night activities are canceled at Calvary tonight, Feb. 17, 2021. That includes Kids Club, Youth Meetings, and Pastor Steve’s Prophetic Life Class.

Potluck: The Potluck scheduled for this Sunday, has been canceled. We will try and reschedule for a later date.

In-person Sunday morning service? On Tuesday, we experienced a broken water pipe at Calvary. Presently, the water is cut off to both buildings. A group of Calvary members and friends jumped into action yesterday to help squeegee, shop-vac, and clean up the areas affected by the water from the break. They worked really, really hard and deserve lots of thanks.

We are fortunate that the water damage was limited to the Children’s Ministry Main entrance floor and to some areas of carpeting in the Life Center / Gym. The ceilings and dry wall appear to remain in tact.

Our Sport Court is virtually indestructible. We just had to take up some of the tiles and to dry out the padding.

There are a few challenges for meeting in-person on Sunday morning. First, the power has been out most of the time since Sunday night. If we don’t have power, we can’t meet in person. Second, the plumbing needs repair so that we can turn on the water. Until we have water, we can’t meet.

We will let you know if we are meeting in-person on Sunday or if we are only doing live stream. Please stay tuned. That information probably will go out on Saturday via email, blog, and social media.

Please be sure and share this information with your family, friends, teams, small group members, and other friends of Calvary.

Together with the help of the Lord and with the support of one another, we will get through this challenge.

May the grace, love, and goodness of the Lord sustain you,

Pastor Jeff McGee
