We are looking forward to a great time together via livestream this Sunday.

Please invite family, friends, and neighbors to join us online for our Easter Service. Services will stream at 10:00am, 2:00pm, and 7:00pm.

Stay home and work safe

These times are unique for us, aren’t they? Because of COVID-19, we are still under directives by our governing authorities to stay home and work safe (Romans 13:1-7). The goal is to help slow the spread of coronavirus.

Experts tell us that the next 2 weeks are critical in defeating this pandemic. So, I want to encourage you– be sure to stay home and work safe. It is ok to get out and get groceries, pick up medicine, patronize restaurants and food places that are open (drive through or pick up only), and do other necessary activities. If you do have to get out, please practice physical distancing and good hygiene. (You know the drill by now, right?)

In the midst of physical distancing, please be sure to connect socially with family, friends, and neighbors. Use technology to check in with people. If you are out walking in your neighborhood, practice safe distancing as you have conversations with neighbors. If you get out for essential errands and activities, ask employees how you can pray for them.

I want to remind you and encourage you to connect socially connect with others. Social interaction via technology and safe distancing requires intentionality.

Remember: using wisdom is not giving in to fear. We are not afraid; rather, we seek to be wise in our choices.

Redeem the time (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Remember how the Lord called us to return to our first love last year? Then, the Lord told us to enter into a 21-day First Love Fast to start 2020. The focus of that fast, and the word for this year of 2020, is deep intimacy and full partnership with Jesus. The Lord positioned us perfectly for these challenging days.

So, the Lord wants us to keep pressing into intimacy with our Living God in this season of stay home and work safe. We want to use this season for good spiritually.

I want to encourage you to intentionally purse deep intimacy with the Lord through regular spiritual practices like prayer, devotional Scripture reading, worship, intercession, silence, solitude, journaling, fasting, and other spiritual disciplines.

One of the major issues in our culture is that we say we are too busy for connecting with the Lord. So, let’s take advantage of this unique season which turned our schedules upside down; let’s make time to connect with God. Let’s redeem the time of physical distancing by pressing into relationship with our living Lord.

Thank you for your faithfulness to give, to care, to connect, and to serve to advance the kingdom of God in the earth.

If you have any questions, please email me at jtm@calvaryhouston.com or contact me at 281-686-5291.

Please continue praying for our church, city, and nation… and if you have faith, for this world that needs healing and mercy. Pray for many people to come to Christ in this Easter Season.

May the Lord pour into you his grace, wisdom, and strength which you need for each day.

Blessings,
