Theology, like art, is never finished.
There are at least four ways of loving God.
- Through his world
- Through his Word
- Through his works
- Through his ways
You exist for God. So what’s he like?
Describing God:
- Infinite and personal
- Loving community
- Timeless and perfect
- Superabundant with life and joy
- Solitude and society
God created you to share life with him. Jesus calls us to prepare our lives for mystic, sweet communion with God. Henry Scrougal wrote:
The worth and excellency of a soul is to be measured by the object of its love.
Our souls become emaciated when their love is fixed on positions, possessions, and power. We become like our focus. To enable our relationship with him, God reveals himself to us in his essence and energies:
Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your mind, and all of your soul. – Jesus
