I want to invite you to join me in praying one of my daily prayers. I know we all have our own prayers, but if this blog becomes a prompting from the Spirit, I would be pleased to gather with you in the throne room of our heavenly Father. And let us not forget that Jesus taught us there is increased impact where two or three agree in prayer (Matthew 18:19-20). Perhaps our unified prayer may bring multiplied blessing as we pray for our own lives, our families, and our church.
My daily time of prayer includes this request:
Father, I pray that my heart would be your home, my body would be your temple, and my life would be your thoroughfare into this world.
In a right relationship with God, our lives become a vehicle of God’s presence into the world around us.
I want to share some things we can do to keep our “vehicle” running smoothly and ready for God’s daily activities through our lives. Please do not read these like you would the owner’s manual for your car. I am not trying to be technical but devotional. Tuning our hearts is very different from tuning our cars. It is a personal process much more akin to growing a friendship than changing the oil in our vehicles.
Your prayer turns the key and starts the engine: God, please make my heart your home, my body your temple, and my life your thoroughfare into the world.
As we rise from our united prayer, here are some ideas to help us prepare for a day of friendship and fellowship with God, a day of service and ministry to the world.
- Recognize and embrace God’s indwelling presence (1 Corinthians 6:17).
- Surrender my thoughts and actions to his governing Spirit (Romans 8:14).
- Replace and repair my broken parts with his love (1 John 4:16-17).
- Receive his gifts and promises (2 Peter 1:3-4).
- Extend his presence and Kingdom into the world around me (Luke 12:31).
We are put on earth a little space that we might learn to bear the beams of Love. — William Blake
