Calvary has partnered with and supported Somebody Cares for many years. Their goal is to mobilize Christians into evangelism, thereby transforming communities. Somebody Cares also seeks to identify ministries that empower people to reach their full potential and to become all that God envisioned when he created them.
Together, Calvary and Somebody Cares are advancing the gospel and building the kingdom of God through compassion. Calvary was able to help in a tangible way by adopting five Somebody Cares families in need this Christmas season. Three were single parent families, and the other two were victims of the wildfires this past summer.
Many Calvary members pitched in to help these families, representing over 20 individuals (parents and children). Over $1,000 in gifts and donations were given to bless the families. On December 18, the gifts were transported to the Somebody Cares office for distribution.
In addition, bags and bags of various toys, books, and stuffed animals were donated to Somebody Cares. These gifts were received with great enthusiasm because the number of needy families had increased this past year. Originally, the gifts were going to Mission Centers of Houston. But, MCH had received and distributed all the gifts they needed for their Christmas Store. Vickie at Somebody Cares said that the gifts which Calvary gave were “an answer to prayer.”
Thank you, Calvary, for your generous hearts and willingness to give.
