Calvary and Copperfield Church have partnered together…
Calvary has joined with Copperfield Church in a partnership to serve Hairgrove Elementary. Our efforts reflect the Whole and Healthy Children Emphasis for Greater Houston. Caring adults can make a difference in the lives of staff and students in the public arena through mentoring, volunteering, praying, and giving. We long to see transformation in our community. Changing the lives of children, equipping mentors to become change-agents, and doing acts of Christ-centered goodness (Acts 10:38) will help us toward our goal of personal and community transformation.
Our vision is to demonstrate the love of Jesus to students, staff, and families of Hairgrove Elementary through service, support, encouragement, and prayer in order to restore our community to God’s design and to impact the lives of children positively for the future.
There are many ways to get involved in the Hairgrove Partnership.

Ways to serve and to touch the lives of children:
1. Be a Mentor. As a part of our partnership with Hairgrove Elementary, you are invited to be a mentor for a student in the school. Mentors are role models and friends who meet with a student one hour each week during the regular school day. New mentors are required to attend training sessions conducted by CFISD.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Patti Ressler. We want to keep you informed on training opportunities.
2. Save Box Tops for Education for Hairgrove
We collect those items here at Calvary and take them to Hairgrove. Please place your box tops and labels in the offering basket. We will make sure that they get to the right place. See www.boxtops4education.com for more info.
3. Volunteer to help with office tasks at the school
4. Help with Teacher Appreciation Activities
Contact Patti Ressler if you want to help us express appreciation and blessings to the staff at Hairgrove.
5. Help with preparing meals for the science, math, and reading campsÂ
Our partnership with Hairgrove and Copperfield Church is making a difference. Regarding the camps, in the 2009-2010 school year (the year we provided breakfast tacos), the student participation rate for the camps went up from 30% the prior year to 80 – 85% in 2009 – 2010. During the next year, by holding the camps on Fridays and providing dinner for the students, the participation rate increased to 90 – 95 percent. That success rate has continued each year. By providing a meal, snacks, and prizes, we have helped the school to help their most needy students. What an expression of love and what a significant impact.
6. Serve as a Bus Buddy in August
During the first two days of each school year, volunteers help elementary students get off the bus at the correct location. This service opportunity makes a difference in the lives of younger children as they adjust to school life. The approximate time of commitment is from 2:45 – 5:00 pm on August 26 and 27. No training is required, and the buses are air-conditioned!
If you can help, let Patti Ressler know.
 7. Donate back to school supplies
Closer to the start of the school year, we will have a clear list of items that are needed.
